This year began with a quick refreshing break, but then quickly became busy with a visit from Beppe Carletti from the Italian band Nomadi, a cruise on the Mekong with Geography of the Moon and Lewis McTie, Lunar New Year red tortellinis, a Valentine's 3 course meal with heart shaped raviolis, and a second boat cruise on the Mekong with Penh Pals and The Broken Cymbal.

Nomadi have been top of the pops in Italy since the early sixties, and Pasta Fresca were honored to have founding member Beppe Carletti visit for a private pasta tasting whilst here in Cambodia filming some material for his charity foundation. Pasta Fresca's owner Vanessa is a lifelong fan and was very much excited to meet one of her idols, and it was an absolute pleasure to host the amicable, keen-witted gentleman, who definitely has hairs on his stomach! Geography of the Moon are a post-punk psyche wave duo that are well known on the Phnom Penh music scene, and we were thrilled to have them headline the first of our 3 cruises hosted in conjunction with Tacos Kokopelli. The boat trip was a sell-out and 80 happy cruisers were treated to first a solo performance by singer-songwriter Lewis McTie, and then the shoe gaze riffs and melancholy vocals of GOTM after the sun had set into Phnom Penh's skyline.

Then we celebrated Lunar New Year by creating some beautiful red maxi Tortellini filled with roasted cherry tomato and burrata cheese, served with a delicate butter and sage sauce, followed soon after by Valentine's Day where we treated couples to a 3-course meal with a prosecco welcome drink, bruschetta with roasted cherry tomato and fresh burrata cheese to start, a main course of red and white heart-shaped raviolis stuffed with ricotta and forest mushrooms on a pink sauce, and a finale of traditional Italian tiramisu.

Finally towards the end of February we took to the Mekong once more with the fun-loving alternative pop of Penh Pals, and the soulful rhythm, blues, and bossa nova of The Broken Cymbal, and of course we were serving up a fresh pasta salad, prosecco, wine and Fuzzy Logic craft beers as the boat cruised the Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers. If that sounds like fun get your tickets for our final cruise of the season with Japan Guitar Shop and Geography of the Moon! Tickets will be available from Pasta Fresca from March 5th. There's lots more fun lined up this March as we start the month with a salmon tortellini in a lemon cream sauce for a sumptuous special to start the month. Smoked salmon, and mashed potato with a touch of dill, encased in our hand-crafted pasta, in a silky smooth lemon cream sauce for the fresh taste of spring. It will pair perfectly with our Astoria prosecco, so why not try it on Frizzante Giovedi (Fizzy Thursday) with free-flow prosecco 6-8pm! Friday March 8th is International Women's Day where we will be offering a glass of prosecco to all our female customers. See all you ladies then! Plus every Friday get crafty and save $1 on all our craft beers! Arrivederci, Ciao for now!
